Christopher Columbus spotted and named the island Antigua in 1493. It became a main trading gateway for British vessels that used the many beautiful and natural harbors for safety en route to other colonies. Today it is famous for Antigua race week and boat show. On a sail from Lord Nelson's English Harbor, you can circumnavigate the island stopping at a multitude of dramatic bays and beaches while taking in the Antiguan history and sunshine.
