Not to miss while you are in the Spanish Balearics…
Ibiza Island… is a beautiful island 80 km off the coast of the city of Valencia. It is the third largest island of the Balearic Archipelago. The island is well known as a summer beach destination and for its notorious nightlife and parties that attract huge numbers of younger tourists. There are many beach resorts and some that are more family oriented. The most famous bar on the island is Café Del Mar, which claims to be the origin of chill-out music.
Menorca/Minorca… or minor island, takes its name from being smaller than nearby Majorca. Menorca is known for its megalithic stone monuments, which allow insight into the island's very early prehistoric civilization. It is believed that the Minoans from Crete influenced early Menorcan civilization. The position of Menorca and it's safe harbors, in the central western Mediterranean, provided a stepping stone for many different cultures since prehistoric times. Today the island is a mix of colonial and local architecture and features colorful fiestas in different towns throughout the summer months. Menorca's cuisine is the healthy Mediterranean diet. A traditional cheese made on the island is named after the capital city of Mahon. It is thought that western mayonnaise may have it is origin in Mahon. Located in the eastern part of the island, Mahon has the second deepest natural harbor in the world at 5km long and up to 900m wide. Mahon harbor is a Mecca for boating of all types.
