A sailing cruise or cabin charter sailing holiday is an adventure holiday on a yacht where you charter by the cabin rather than the whole yacht. Sailing cruises on shared yachts are for singles, couples, families or smaller groups of sailors and adventure travellers who:
- seek an adventurous, fun and informative guided vacation
- don't want to incur the cost of chartering an entire yacht and don't mind sharing a yacht with other guests
- do not have the required sailing certification or experience to charter their own yacht
- wish to have a relaxing more inclusive vacation with a small number of crew
- enjoy meeting new people
Cabin charters aboard a shared yacht are:
- open to all levels of experience, from novice to advanced sailors
- suitable for all ages and fitness levels
- a fun way to practice or learn new sailing skills
- a great way to explore, relax and meet new friends
The yachts
All yachts used for our cabin charters offer private cabins, washrooms, indoor and outdoor common areas and access to shore via means of gangplank or tender/dinghy. Your yacht is your luxurious accommodation and mode of transport while on your trip.
Crew
You will find two or three crew on every cabin charter yacht. The crew consists of a skipper or guide and program director or cook. The crew sleeps aboard the yacht in crew quarters.
Skippers are experienced sailors and qualified to ensure your safety while aboard. They are happy to share their knowledge of the destinations and willing to help you hone your skills if you wanting to take a more active sailing role while aboard.
Program director/hostess' are responsible for provisioning and preparing wonderful meals aboard. Your PD or hostess provides details of what there is to see and do on each island and in some cases will guide on hikes ashore. They also manage the social aspect of your trip with sunset and happy hour activities and great restaurant reservations.
Please note: Our cabin charter sailing holidays do not require you to have a high level of physical fitness and are suitable for any age. However, a moving boat requires you to be steady on your feet and relatively agile. Some of our cabin charters require that you are able to climb off and on the yacht by ladder into the sea for swimming and to access the shore by dinghy. This requires some strength and dexterity.
