Oceanis 381

Pleasure cruising

A successful range of sailing yachts such as the Oceanis represents quite a challenge for both Beneteau and its naval architects when designing a new model. But this success is also a source of invaluable information: the experience gained by pleasure yachtsmen across all the seas of the world enriches the most advanced technology in terms of research, creation and production.

To design this new Oceanis 381, Beneteau has called on the talents of Cabinet Berret/Racoupeau. This choice by itself already sets the tone: the Oceanis 381 is a performance sailing yacht which corresponds well to Beneteau's philosophy on cruising. The lines of the hull are taut and the efficient hull shape guarantees that she will be a pleasure to helm, even when cruising with the family.

The standard is a in-mast roller furling mainsail and for those who prefer a classic mainsail, a "1/2 full batten" type with lazy jacks, for easy reefing and stowing is also available as an option. Of course, for those who must have a furling main, this is also available as an option. The furling drum for the genoa is positioned above the deck so that the area around the windlass is uncluttered.

The shroud chainplates are well centered, guaranteeing an efficient sheeting angle, whilst making it easier to move around the sidedecks. As for the primary (self-tailing) winches, they are within arm's reach of the helmsman, should you be sailing short-handed...

And if the wind drops, the Oceanis 381's powerful diesel engine will take over silently so that you'll arrive on time at your next port of call before the bar closes...

Practical cruising

Everything on deck, from the door in the transom to the stemhead fitting, has been studied in the greatest detail to make the Oceanis 381 a pleasing and efficient yacht: large cockpit with steering wheel console, table with flaps and enormous lockers, mainsail track moved forward on the coachroof, molding ready for the "extra wide" dodger, sunbathing area forward, and recessed windlass* in the large anchor well.

The numerous hatches and opening portholes ensure perfect ventilation, without hampering crew's movement on deck, who will always find toerails and handrails enabling them to move around in complete safety.

Whether you want to cruise long distance or just spend a day messing about in your favorite creek, the Oceanis 381 truly offers you 38 feet of pure boating pleasure...and for a long time!

Comfortable cruising

Whatever your type of sailing, the Oceanis 381 will adapt to your needs: The "owner's" version with 2 large double cabins and L-shaped galley to starboard, and the "charter" version with lateral galley, will both give you an exceptionally comfortable salon for 6 to 8 people and unparalleled interior volumes, with a natural lighting and ventilation systems that have been particularly carefully studied.

The Oceanis 381 is equipped with a totally independent head compartment with marine toilet, shower and hot and cold pressurized water (an optional forward head compartment is also offered).

The cabinetry is cherry stained mahogany and harmonizes perfectly with the many available cushion choices. Adding an extra touch of elegance and functionality, the lockers are fitted with canework doors for a perfect ventilation.

*Electric windlass optional
