Oceanis 400

Performance Cruising For The 90's

No matter what your destination, Oceanis 400 will take you there in safety, comfort and luxury. And she'll do it with a minimal effort on your part, thanks to a modern and efficient deck layout and quality hardware.

Jean Marie Finot designed this second generation Oceanis to provide her owners with plenty of cruising performance and comfort, blended with safety and true ease of handling.

Our belief is that performance is as important in cruising as it is in racing. That's why we design our Oceanis' to be able to sail off a lee shore or out of the way of an oncoming storm.

Her fin keel with bulb has a low center of gravity which allows her to sail efficiently on all points of sail while providing excellent stability. The large diameter, leather sheathed wheel, coupled to a counter-balanced rudder, provides precise and easy steerage under sail or when maneuvering under power in tight quarters.

We even provide peace of mind with your Oceanis 400 by protecting you with a Five Year Transferable Limited Warranty. Application of our patented Beneteau Watershield System in the hull laminate provides protection against osmotic blistering of the hull. And by using a structural grid system in the hull, we ensure stiffness as well as correct rig and keel load distribution. Time and weather pass: a Beneteau is built to endure.

This is the way that your cruising should be done; with a confidence and a peace of mind that allow you to relax and to enjoy. So live life to the fullest onboard the Oceanis 400 -- where everything is designed to make your days on the water as pleasant as we can make them.

The New Single Aft Cabin Version

Open spaces, fixed hull ports and skylights, many opening ports and hatches, provide an abundance of light and air The galley is close at hand both to the cockpit and the salon so the chef is never far from the rest of the crew.

The galley features a gimballed stainless steel propane stove with oven, double stainless steel sinks with mixing faucet and cutting board inserts. A top loading freezer and front loading fridge are stainless steel lined and provide ample food storage for long cruises.

The Hardware Department

The Oceanis 400 cockpit is a mastery of ergonomic design. Pictured here with the optional radar arch, this cockpit gives plenty of elbow room to the largest of crews, whether underway or socializing around the cockpit table at the end of the day. High coamings provide plenty of back support and security for the crew.

Genoa tracks and turning blocks are placed on the cabin top as is the mainsheet traveller. This positioning improves the sheeting angle of the genoa and enhances upwind performance. It also clears the side decks making them safer to use.

The double spreader, furling mast has discontinuous rigging and forward lower shrouds. The furling mainsail is controlled by an inhaul and an outhaul line led aft to the maneuvering winch. All lines running aft from the mast to the cockpit are covered by a deck cowling.

Genoa sheets and maneuvering lines are controlled by large self-tailing winches, and are used standing rather than sitting, making it easier for the crew. Rope tails are stored using tiebacks affixed to the coachroof. Lifeline gates are at maximum beam where they are most accessible.

The anchor locker contains the standard manual anchor windlass and the below deck furling drum. The stemhead has two anchor rollers one of which tilts and is balanced forward to allow easier lowering of the anchor.

The Double Aft Cabin Version

This version offers a second aft cabin to starboard, which is identical to the port aft cabin. The forward cabin and head are unchanged. The galley runs along the port side of the salon. The starboard side features an L-shaped settee, large table and a forward facing chart table.
