 | Yacht charter with skipper |
Chartering a yacht with a skipper is a good idea if you are a:
- new or uncertified sailor planning your first yacht charter holiday
- certified or experienced sailor who would like a more relaxing, trouble and stress-free charter experience
- certified or experienced sailor wanting to have current local knowledge, in order to get the most out of a foreign charter destination
Professional skippers and crew can be hired to make your sailing holiday informative, safe and trouble free, leaving you to enjoy as much or as little of the sailing as you would like. Skippers are responsible for the safety of guests and the yacht and have a good local knowledge to help you get the most out of your chosen destination.
Your skipper will need his/her own cabin and you will need to provide their food and beverages for the duration of the charter. You will need to discuss with your skipper if you will reimburse the costs for meals, provide meals as part of your provisioning or include the skipper as part of your group meals when eating ashore.
Skipper fees vary dependant on destination but are approximately $150 per day. In addition to the skipper fee and meal costs, it is customary to tip your skipper approximately 10-20% of the skipper fee but this is at your discretion and based on the level of service you received.
A hostess or crew/cook can also be hired and will normally prepare breakfast, lunch and evening meals (if required) and keep the yacht clean.
Skipper and hostess fees will be quoted along with your charter yacht fee if their services are requested
