After much talk in the media about refugees and the ongoing crisis in Greece, as we expected everything was as it should be in Greece! Sunny, friendly people, great food and the wine dark sea. The weather has been ultra calm for our first flotilla of 2016 and the flotilla have been able to take advantage of great sunbathing time…not so great for the avid sailors unfortunately! We started in Athens with a mixed group of monohulls with crews from the UK, the States and Canada. It was great as the first flotilla of the year always is to see our dear friends in our favourite island restaurants. Garden Taverna in Poros, Christina’s Taverna in Hydra and believe it or not the best pizza this side of Italy at Mamma Mia’s in Sifnos. After a fantastic beach BBQ at Kithnos and a very we are now halfway through our two week itinerary and enjoying the fun of Ios while a few of our flotilla gang visit Santorini for the weekend.
