The Polynesian islands enjoy a tropical climate. May through October is the austral winter, which has sunny conditions and a tourism high season of July and August. The Eastern trade winds prevail from November to March bringing the more humid wet season, rainfall is more common in this period, with intermittent sunny breaks but overall temperatures remain consistently warm. Mid-season is a good period to sail, April-May-June and September-October.
Tahiti is a great charter destination for all levels of sailor. A sailing license or certificate is not mandatory for yacht charter/bareboat and flotilla yacht charters but you will be asked to provide a sailing resume. For luxury charter, skippered charter or cabin charter, you do not require any experience or certification.
