Setting sail on our first full two-week Cycladic adventure this season we saw guests from Georgia, Colorado and Ontario aboard our beautiful Ocean Star vessels Christiana VIII and Possidon. Everyone really enjoyed visiting Hydra and the energetic crews onboard hiked the 3-hour round trip up to the monastery. Leaving Hydra, the first true Meltemi of the season arrived, with three solid days of beautiful sailing that all crews were up for! Arriving at Kamares sand bar on the island of Kythnos, we enjoyed a wonderful barbecue meal cooked ashore by Captain Stefanos. The next passage to Sifnos was the highlight of the week as Christiana VIII sailed on a perfect wing on wing and both yachts were neck and neck after a bit of a race – Christiana VIII just beating Possidon on the home straight! Arriving at Platy Yalos, Sifnos, crews took a break from Greek gastronomy for a night and loved pizza at Mama Mia Italian restaurant on the beach!  The last sail of the week was another windy day. A great broad reach took us to Ios island and the first visit of 2015 to Liostasi Boutique hotel for massages, pedicures and poolside cocktails. We sadly said goodbye to four guests from Ontario, but eight others returned from a two-day excursion to Santorini for the second half of the Aegean adventure!

Beautiful spring poppies and other colourful flowers welcomed the first crews to Greece for the start of our sailing season of 2015. As the summer kicks in, it gets so hot in Greece that these flowers wither away so it was a nice treat to see beautiful  colours aside from the Aegean sea blue and Cyclades blue of course!  Leaving Athens, our sailing cruise and flotilla headed into cool sparkling seas with two boats. Onboard, our Ocean Star 56.1 Posseidon, were Chiropractors coming from an international conference in Athens. Onboard Melia an Oceanis 43, was a family from San Francisco with our resident skipper Stephanos at the helm. Glorious weather and light sailing was enjoyed each day, and although the water was cool as it’s May, everyone swam! Food is such an important part of our trip and we quite literally eat our way through the islands at places such as Kristina’s in Hydra where we ate a selection of yummy mezze style foods of saganaki cheese, dolmades, and of course a classically great Greek salad! Once we left the Saronic Gulf we headed to Kythnos, a Cycladic island where everyone enjoyed chill-out time and relaxation in the natural thermal beach hot tubs.  The week ended too soon back in Athens, but unlike the flowers, the memories will of course last a lifetime!

We’ve always attracted the more mature adventure travellers so this year we’ve decided to come to Toronto to exhibit at the Zoomer Show on October 24th. Now entering its sixth successful year, the ZoomerShow is Canada’s largest consumer show and lifestyle expo for men and women 45+. The show offers the latest trends, advice and information and of course we’ll now be there making sure you remember to add Greece to your next bucket list trip!

French Polynesia and the Society islands of Bora Bora and Raitea are certainly paradise found. Spend a week with the crew aboard one of the stunning 60 foot catamarans and we can guarantee it will be a place you want to visit again and again. 

Each year we sail with 100’s of people, take 1000’s of photos and hours of video footage. Lots of this footage is used to populate our facebook site, and for our promotional videos. However, the best form of marketing for us is our past happy sailors. Trip Advisor doesn’t allow sailing companies to have their own pages or your reviews so we try to post as much as possible on our site for future clients to read – and hope they believe what is genuinly true! This week we received not only feedback but a story from Sherrie and Paul, lovely clients from Texas who sailed with us in 2014. It was so nice we felt we should share it!
